PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andy Miranda (ranked 22806 p4p, 0 weight class) and Animesh Saha (ranked 4781 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andy Miranda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Animesh Saha!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Miranda.

Miranda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miranda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Saha wants to control but Miranda postures up.
Saha is trying to buck Miranda off.

Miranda stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Saha closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Andy Miranda has been cut.

Saha shoots in and bounces Miranda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Miranda utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Saha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miranda doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miranda manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Miranda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Saha looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Saha is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miranda stands up and waves to Saha to follow him.

Miranda has taken the fight to the clinch.
The referee calls for Miranda to work.

Miranda gets control of Saha's arms and successfully pulls guard. Miranda will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Miranda looking to control.
Miranda bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Saha's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Saha holds on and takes a little breather.
Miranda postures up and lands a big shot to Saha's brow.
Saha has momentary wrist control but Miranda slips an elbow through the middle.
Miranda throws a big elbow that misses.
Miranda would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Saha wants to stand and escape but Miranda is having none of it.

Saha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Miranda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miranda's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Miranda dives in and scores a takedown into Saha's guard.
Saha is trying to keep Miranda in close.
Miranda keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Saha's head.
Miranda working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Saha's head.
Saha looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Miranda puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Miranda is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Saha can do to turn this around?
Miranda prevents Saha from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Saha is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miranda connects with a nice short shot to Saha's temple.
Miranda takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Saha wants to control but Miranda is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Andy Miranda overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Miranda lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Miranda is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Saha sees it coming and defends easily.
Saha has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Miranda is working away from the top position though.

Miranda is trying for a kimura here. Saha looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Miranda wins by kimura!
