Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Myron Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Claudiu David! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! David moves into range and clinches up with Nelson. A quick uppercut on the inside from David. Nelson misses with some punches.
Nelson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
David fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Nelson appears to be looking for a big counter. Nelson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. David really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. David is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Nelson is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Nelson working the ground and pound effectively.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. David is looking to improve his position but Nelson isn't that keen on the idea. Nelson wants to finish this one by submission but David is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Nelson. Nelson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nelson has hold of David's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and David manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
David is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nelson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. David tries to lock up and control but Nelson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Nelson has hold of David's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. Nelson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Nelson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. David looks a forlorn figure.

Nelson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of David's face.
David is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Nelson lands a nice shot to the head. Nelson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson is landing with some decent strikes but David is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. This has been an exciting period of action! Nelson working David over with strikes here. Nelson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Nelson landing strikes, looking to finish! David is in all sorts of trouble here.
David wants to hold on but Nelson pushes him away. Nelson breaks from David's wrist control and lands an elbow. Nelson is breathing heavily. You get the feeling that David really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The referee warns David that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Myron Nelson dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Good work by Nelson as he checks the leg kick. Nelson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. David closes the distance and clinches. David stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Nelson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
David has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nelson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Nelson tightens his grip and picks David up, before dumping him to the ground. David manages to land in guard. Nelson is working David over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Nelson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Nelson won't allow David to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. David is controlling Nelson's posture. David wants to stand up but Nelson is controlling him. David controlling the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if David can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. David looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nelson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Nelson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. David looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
David is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. David has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Nelson with a nice head shot there. Nelson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. David controlling the position. Myron Nelson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nelson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nelson landing some decent shots from guard. David tries to land a sweep but no joy. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. David clinches up against the cage. David avoids the elbow strike from Nelson, against the cage.

David will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Nelson up against the cage. David is trying to trip Nelson. He has hold of a leg but Nelson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. David persists though and gets the takedown into guard. David must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nelson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. David trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nelson's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nelson is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson is working David over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nelson postures up.

David rushes Nelson and presses him up against the cage. Nelson is trying to break free. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Nelson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, David regains guard.
Nelson pushes down on David's leg and manages to get into half guard. Nelson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. David wants to improve his position but Nelson is controlling well.
David pushes Nelson off looking to stand but Nelson dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. David has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though. Nelson prevents David from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nelson working the head and body with strikes. Nelson is working for a submission of some sort.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nelson connects with a nice short shot to David's temple. David tries to get to full guard but Nelson has control of the leg. David controlling the position for now.

Nelson is nestled in close to David, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. David throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
David gets full guard. Nelson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nelson throws a big right hand that misses. Nelson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. David tries to land a sweep but no joy. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. David trying to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Claudiu David seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. David dives in for a single leg takedown but Nelson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Nelson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. David darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage. A shot in the inside from David. David is looking for a takedown. Nelson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. David fails to land the takedown. Myron Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Claudiu David. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! David instigates a clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Myron Nelson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nelson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
