Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emmanuel Duffy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Carvalho! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duffy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carvalho struggling a bit here. Duffy tries to stand but Carvalho is controlling his head. Duffy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carvalho knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duffy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Carvalho has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Duffy but great work by Carvalho.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duffy is not content to let Carvalho control the position. Carvalho controls the position from side control. Carvalho wants to control but Duffy is keeping him busy. Carvalho might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Duffy haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. You can see the frustration on Duffy's face as Carvalho controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carvalho trying to control the action but Duffy is working from the bottom. Carvalho controls the position. Carvalho wants to lay and pray for a moment but Duffy keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carvalho is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Carvalho looks winded! Duffy looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Duffy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Duffy drives through with a takedown into Carvalho's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duffy wants to stand and escape but instead Carvalho has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Duffy keeping moving, preventing Carvalho from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duffy seems keen to control Carvalho's posture. Carvalho got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duffy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carvalho has managed to get both his arms back between Duffy's legs - danger averted. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carvalho postures up.

Emmanuel Duffy dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Duffy dives in and scores a takedown into Carvalho's guard. Duffy wants to stand but Carvalho has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Carvalho is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Duffy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duffy stands and steps away. Carvalho gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duffy closes the distance and clinches. Duffy's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Carvalho takes an elbow to the temple. Carvalho has Duffy pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Carvalho pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Duffy tumbling to the mat - Carvalho dives into Duffy's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carvalho trying to control but Duffy is working from the bottom. Carvalho is breathing heavily. Duffy trying to strike off his back.
Duffy keeping moving, preventing Carvalho from controlling successfully. Duffy is controlling Carvalho's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duffy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Duffy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carvalho looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Duffy stands up. Carvalho takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duffy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Emmanuel Duffy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carvalho regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Duffy. Duffy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Carvalho's guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Emmanuel Duffy dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Duffy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Duffy tries to stand and escape but Carvalho actually recovers to full guard. Carvalho trying to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duffy wants to stand but Carvalho has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duffy trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Duffy wants to stand and escape but instead Carvalho has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Carvalho looking to sit in guard and control but Duffy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carvalho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Duffy is looking to stand up but Carvalho won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duffy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Carvalho trying to keep a closed guard but Duffy is proving a slippery customer.
Duffy tries to stand but Carvalho is controlling from the bottom. Duffy stands up and waves to Carvalho to follow him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duffy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carvalho sprawls well initially but Duffy persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Carvalho wants to control but Duffy is keeping busy and won't allow it. Duffy tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Carvalho has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Duffy is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duffy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Duffy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carvalho is just riding it out for now. Duffy eventually gives up the hold. Duffy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Emmanuel Duffy showed his dominance in that final round. Well Duffy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
