Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kirk Bridges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fabio Susin! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Susin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Bridges cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Susin throws a series of punches but Bridges avoids them all with ease. Bridges tries to keep at a distance but Susin has taken the fight into the clinch. Susin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Bridges throws a body shot but no joy. Bridges rushes Susin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Susin manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Susin fails with the takedown. Bridges appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Susin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bridges swivels and escapes. Bridges is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Susin. Kirk Bridges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Susin. Susin scores with a takedown into Bridges's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Susin wants to stand and escape but instead Bridges has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Bridges throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bridges stands up from Susin's guard - Bridges perhaps looking for a knockout. Susin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Bridges goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Susin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bridges's guard! Nice work there by Susin! Bridges looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Susin advances position into side control! Bridges struggling a bit here. Bridges is pushing Susin's head away, looking to escape. Susin manages to hold on to the position though. You can see the frustration on Bridges's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bridges is trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Susin scores with punches from side control. Susin wants to stand but Bridges has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Susin wants to control from the top but Bridges keeps moving. Susin looking to pass the guard. Bridges pulls Susin in close to his closed guard and prevents Susin from doing any damage or advancing position. Susin stands up out of Bridges's guard for a moment - Bridges manages to land a nice upkick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Bridges looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Susin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Susin trying to move into half guard but instead Bridges has managed to sweep! Bridges landing some decent shots from guard. Bridges makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Bridges scoring with punches to the head and body. Bridges is in close to Susin's body, working some short punches and elbows. Bridges landing some decent shots from guard. Bridges has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bridges gets to his feet - Susin follows without any prompting. Bridges has closed the distance and engaged Susin in a clinch.

Bridges has Susin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bridges pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Susin tumbling to the mat - Bridges dives into Susin's guard. Susin manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown attempt by Susin or perhaps it was just good defense by Bridges, which made it look bad. Susin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Susin wants to take a breather but Bridges is having none of it. Susin wants to work for an arm triangle but Bridges is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Susin is breathing heavily. Bridges controlling the position for now. Bridges has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Susin is working away from the top position though.

Kirk Bridges overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Susin works a leg free and moves into half guard. Bridges looking for submissions off his back. Susin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bridges wants to control but Susin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Susin is looking to stall here but Bridges recovers full guard. Bridges is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Susin throwing strikes but missing. Bridges wants to stand up but Susin is controlling him.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Susin shoots and misses and Bridges cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bridges ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bridges no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Bridges is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Susin stands and throws Bridges's legs to the side, diving into side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bridges throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Susin doesn't succeed with the takedown and Bridges moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Susin is trying to drag Bridges to the mat but Bridges just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Bridges throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Susin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bridges clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Bridges defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Susin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Bridges covering up well under a series of strikes from Susin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Susin avoiding Bridges 's attempts to control his hands. Susin is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Susin keeps control of the position as Bridges tries to break free.
Bridges trying to control the position but Susin manages to sink in the hooks. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Susin's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Bridges is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Susin is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bridges knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bridges for a finish. Bridges breaks Susin's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Susin is working an open guard so Bridges takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Susin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bridges gets a clinch. Bridges is trying to pull guard but Susin has him pressed against the cage. Bridges fails to pull guard.
Bridges presses Susin against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Susin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Susin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bridges fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Susin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bridges, pushing him back against the cage. Bridges pulls Susin into guard.
Bridges looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
