Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Owen Briggs (ranked 5113 p4p, 503 weight class) and Kev McKill (ranked 3879 p4p, 412 weight class). McKill has chosen Welcome to the jungle, Guns n Roses. as his entrance music. Owen Briggs has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kev McKill !
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKill throws a right hand that Briggs ducks under and follows up with a left that Briggs also avoids with ease.
Briggs fails with the takedown
and McKill counters with a two punch combo.
Briggs takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McKill moves out of range of the body kick from Briggs.
Briggs moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromMcKill .
McKill throws a head kick but Briggs moves out of range.
McKill throws a head kick that misses.
McKill throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Briggs is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from McKill .
McKill stalks Briggs and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Briggs's face. Briggs staggers backwards, shaken.
Briggs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McKill counters with a nice body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McKill misses with a two punch combination.
A little feinted left hand from Briggs on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Briggs tries to move into range but McKill moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Briggs drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Briggs won't allow McKill to get back to his feet.

Briggs is stalling in the full guard.
McKill has control of Briggs's left arm, preventing Briggs from doing any damage.

Briggs gets to his feet - McKill follows without any prompting.

Briggs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McKill !

Briggs has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

McKill throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Briggs tries to counter by clinching up but McKill breaks away and moves out of range.
McKill connects with a high kick.


It looks like Owen Briggs has been cut.
McKill shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Briggs eats them both and turns towards McKill to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Briggs drives through with a takedown into McKill 's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McKill looking to hit a scissor sweep but Briggs is one step ahead there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McKill feints a jab promting Briggs to slip. McKill then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Briggs slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Briggs tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McKill defends well and Briggs ends up having to push McKill into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

McKill gets caught napping as Briggs dives in and scores a takedown. McKill manages to retain guard.
McKill will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Briggs has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
McKill scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
McKill throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

McKill cracks Briggs with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Briggs closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
McKill is controlling Briggs's trapped leg to prevent Briggs from advancing to side control.
McKill won't allow Briggs to pass to mount.
McKill tries to get to full guard but Briggs has control of the leg.
McKill is refusing to be controlled, as Briggs sits in half guard.
McKill works his way to full guard. Good work.
Briggs is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Briggs slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
McKill is looking to regain half guard here but Briggs keeps moving and retains side control.
Briggs prevents McKill from escaping the position.

McKill has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Briggs seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if McKill can turn it around.
