Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Farrell (ranked 24752 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Masvidal (ranked 4794 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jerry Farrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jorge Masvidal !
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masvidal misses with a two punch combination.
Farrell is looking to counter the offense by Masvidal and move into the clinch.
Masvidal fails to land with a series of punches.

Masvidal shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Farrell napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Farrell wants to control but Masvidal postures up.
Who's going to make the next move?

Masvidal decides to stand back up. Masvidal steps back and let's Farrell get back to his feet.

Masvidal drives through with a takedown into guard.
Farrell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Masvidal tries to stand but Farrell is controlling from the bottom.
Masvidal is in close to Farrell's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Farrell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masvidal wanted to stand there but Farrell had control of the position.
Masvidal is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
Farrell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Masvidal looking for a guillotine here but Farrell defends easily.
Farrell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Farrell stands up and waves to Masvidal to follow him.
Masvidal closes the distance looking to clinch

and Farrell decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Masvidal 's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Masvidal escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Farrell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Farrell is working Masvidal over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Farrell works over Masvidal with some ground and pound from guard.

Farrell stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Masvidal throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Farrell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Masvidal is in Farrell's guard.
Farrell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Masvidal looks winded!
Farrell wants to stand up but Masvidal is controlling him.
Masvidal stopping the sweep attempt from Farrell.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Farrell has a closed guard, preventing Masvidal from standing up.
Masvidal is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Masvidal stands up and waves to Farrell to follow him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masvidal misses with a kick to the body

and Farrell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Masvidal turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Farrell throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Masvidal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Farrell was well out of range. Poor timing from Masvidal .

Farrell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Masvidal 's guard.

Farrell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Farrell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Masvidal wants to stand up but Farrell is controlling him.
Farrell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Farrell scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Masvidal looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Farrell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A head kick misses from Masvidal .
Farrell misses with a few strikes there.
Masvidal misses with a wild combination.

Farrell shoots in and bounces Masvidal off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Masvidal is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Farrell dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Farrell feints and as Masvidal raises his hands in defense, Farrell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Farrell scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Masvidal is looking to stand up but Farrell isn't so interested in that idea.

Farrell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Farrell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Farrell cracks Masvidal with a solid left hand.
Masvidal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Farrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Farrell gets to his feet - Masvidal follows without any prompting.
Masvidal tries to bum rush Farrell with a series of wild strikes but Farrell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farrell blocks a head kick by Masvidal .
Masvidal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Farrell circles away quickly and effectively.
Farrell throws a big counter combination but Masvidal scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Masvidal throws a looping overhand right but Farrell ducks down to avoid it.
Farrell seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Masvidal is breathing heavily.
Farrell on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Masvidal gets the takedown into side control.

Farrell throws Masvidal to one side and escapes!

Masvidal shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Masvidal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Farrell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Farrell is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Masvidal is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
