Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Beecher (ranked 1178 p4p, 56 weight class) and Gorgon Zola (ranked 1424 p4p, 61 weight class). Zola has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Beecher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gorgon Zola!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beecher thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Zola if he has to take too many more of those.
Beecher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Zola tries to close the distance and clinch but Beecher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Zola has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Beecher throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Zola shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Zola was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Beecher can't do much from the bottom here.

We've been hearing good reports from Beecher's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Beecher's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Beecher duly obliges.


It looks like Gorgon Zola has been cut.

Zola closes the distance and clinches up with Beecher, looking for a takedown. Zola pushes Beecher against the cage but Beecher circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Beecher appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Beecher looks to score with a jab to the body but Zola is just out of range.

Zola shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Beecher but Beecher pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Beecher lands a head kick. Zola smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Beecher is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Beecher, as that shot connected.
Zola tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beecher sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zola somewhat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A quick step to the side and Beecher tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Beecher feints and then cracks Zola's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Zola down.

Zola shoots in looking for a takedown. Beecher tries to sprawl out of it but Zola keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Beecher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
