Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ferreira da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Mauricio Rua has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
da Silva feints and as Rua raises his hands in defense, da Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rua looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
da Silva wants to control from the top but Rua keeps moving.
da Silva gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
da Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rua pinned against the cage. Rua gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
da Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
da Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rua can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
da Silva throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
da Silva has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rua's face.

Rua is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

da Silva has hold of Rua's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rua manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

da Silva postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rua looks a forlorn figure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ferreira da Silva dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
da Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but da Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
da Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rua's head.

da Silva looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

da Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rua defends it well.
da Silva working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
da Silva is keen to just control but Rua is a slippery customer.
da Silva slips a nice elbow through Rua's hands, connecting with Rua's forehead.
Rua is not content to let da Silva control the position.
da Silva not landing any meaningful shots this time.
da Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

da Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

da Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
da Silva wants to take a breather but Rua is having none of it.

da Silva is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rua is bucking up trying to escape but da Silva cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ferreira da Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Rua throws a hook to the side of da Silva's head but da Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
da Silva shoots in but no luck this time.
da Silva gets the takedown into side control.
da Silva decides to stand back up. da Silva steps back and let's Rua get back to his feet.
da Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
da Silva moves away from the strike by Rua.
Rua pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rua throws a jab but it's blocked by da Silva.
Horrible takedown by da Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Rua which made him look bad.
Mauricio Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ferreira da Silva.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
da Silva shoots in but no luck this time.
Rua throws out a loose jab but da Silva uses good head movement to avoid it.

Rua uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Rua misses with an uppercut. da Silva saw that one coming.
da Silva tries for a takedown but Rua sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rua stuffs the takedown attempt from da Silva. da Silva gets slowly back to his feet.

Rua explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
da Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rua swivels and escapes.
da Silva uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rua.

Rua looks to land a left hand but da Silva moved out of range nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
da Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

da Silva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rua sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
da Silva tries to advance to mount but can't.
da Silva tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
And that's the end of the fight!
Ferreira da Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got da Silva winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
