Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kevin Brockington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takanori Hori! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hori misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Brockington attempts a counter takedown but Hori avoids it well and moves away. A jab-cross combination lands for Hori and sends Brockington crashing to the mat! Hori follows him down to the mat - Brockington regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
It looks like Kevin Brockington has been cut. Hori tries to stand but his arm is trapped. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brockington is pressing down on Hori's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Brockington lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brockington stops Hori from standing up. Hori being controlled here, momentarily. It looked like Brockington was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Hori throws a series of punches but Brockington avoids them all with ease. Brockington misses with a takedown attempt and Hori counters with a left and a right that stings Brockington. Brockington is breathing heavily. Brockington tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hori defends well and Brockington ends up having to push Hori into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Hori tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Brockington shoots in for a double leg but Hori sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
