PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Petah Miller (ranked 2624 p4p, 318 weight class) and Spurgu Nator (ranked 3821 p4p, 407 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Spurgu Nator was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Petah Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Spurgu Nator!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nator misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Miller misses with a takedown attempt
and Nator counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Nator, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Nator against the cage but Nator circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nator swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nator lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nator goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nator works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Miller shoots for a double leg takedown but Nator sprawls well. He's pushed Miller's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petah Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nator leaves Miller with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nator has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Nator throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Nator scores with the left hand. Miller knows he should have avoided that one.

Miller closes the distance and clinches up with Nator, looking for a takedown. Miller pushes Nator against the cage but Nator circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nator stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nator wants it to stay on the feet.
Nator works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Miller looks to land a right hand but Nator moved out of range.
A lazy left from Nator finds it's target.
Nator swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Miller darts in looking for a takedown but Nator gets double underhooks and turns Miller into the cage.
Nator defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Miller.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spurgu Nator dominated that round.
That's time! Miller's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nator has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Nator throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Miller stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nator will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Miller takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Miller shoots for a double leg takedown but Nator sprawls well. He's pushed Miller's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nator lands a lovely overhand right.
Miller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Nator counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Nator lands a left and a right that send Miller crashing to the mat, dazed. Nator thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Miller is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nator walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Miller drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Nator swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Miller's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
