Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, rocco hard ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Sheider! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! hard shoots for a takedown but Sheider saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from hard . Sheider stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for rocco hard . That's going to take a lot out of him. Sheider closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sheider wants to control but hard is keeping him busy. hard manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. hard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sheider's guard. Sheider is looking to stand up but hard isn't so interested in that idea. hard trying to control the position from guard on top but Sheider is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sheider can do anything to dispel that myth. Sheider working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. hard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. hard throwing strikes from guard but Sheider blocks nicely. Sheider is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sheider gets the takedown into side control. hard seems a little lost for a moment, as Sheider dominates the positioning. hard regains half guard. Sheider is looking to take a break and control but hard is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. hard trying to control from the bottom.
Sheider really doesn't want to stay on the ground with hard . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. hard works his way to full guard. Good work. hard is breathing heavily. hard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. hard looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sheider thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. hard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sheider wants to control from the top but hard keeps moving. Sheider is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but hard has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Sheider is looking to defend but hard has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Sheider! hard pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Sheider taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). rocco hard !
