The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murdock shoots in but no luck this time.
smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Murdock counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Murdock.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Murdock takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Murdock pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
smith drops back looking for a leg! Murdock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Murdock manages to kick smith off! smith jumps back into Murdock's guard.

smith looks to land a strike but Murdock avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Murdock knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for smith on the ground.

Murdock misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Murdock tries to clinch but smith moves out of range.

and smith counters with a shoot takedown. Murdock fights it but they end up in guard.
smith drops back looking for a leg! Murdock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Murdock manages to kick smith off! smith jumps back into Murdock's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
smith drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Murdock dives on top into guard.

smith is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Murdock has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Murdock!
smith has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Murdock is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for smith.

Murdock is looking for a kimura but smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Murdock to get the leverage.
