Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 781 p4p, 35 weight class) and Brandon Vee (ranked 590 p4p, 14 weight class). Vee has chosen Da Mystery of Chessboxin by Wu-Tang Clan as his entrance music. Brandon Vee acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Brandon Vee! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vee throws a hook but Ruas blocks it. Vee fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Vee cracks a nice hook into Ruas's ribs. Ruas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vee. Vee throws out a counter right but Ruas avoids it with no problem. A telegraphed right hand from Ruas misses the target. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Vee throws a hook but Ruas avoids it easily. Jab from Vee. A slow jab from Vee misses its intended target. Vee ducks under a wild hook from Ruas. Ruas with a poor takedown and Vee connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ruas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vee. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ruas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vee. Vee sizes up Ruas with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Ruas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vee napping and manages to drive through into side control! Vee is trying to get back to his feet. Ruas tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vee's legs. Vee is trying to get back to his feet. Ruas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vee keeps working. Ruas scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruas tries to get back to half guard but can't. Vee stands up and we're back to a striking position. Vee throws a jab when Ruas was well out of range. Ruas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Vee. Brandon Vee is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vee throws a lazy right hand but Ruas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Vee throws a body shot but no joy. Ruas slips a jab from Vee. Ruas looks to land a right hand but Vee moved out of range. A countering left hand to the body from Vee misses. Vee bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A jab from Vee finds it's way through Ruas's defenses. Ruas shoots in and gets a takedown into Vee's guard. Ruas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Vee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Vee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Vee! Ruas is looking to regain half guard here but Vee keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ruas regains half guard. Ruas flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Vee wants to stand up but Ruas has a hold of him and won't allow it. Ruas striking from half guard on the bottom. Vee decides to return to a standing position. Ruas shoots in for a takedown but Vee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice straight punches there by Vee. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Vee. Vee swings for the body but Ruas moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Vee works Ruas's body with a nice hook. Vee looks to land a right hand but Ruas moved out of range. Ruas tries to counter with a takedown but Vee is quick to defend against it. Ruas tries to bum rush Vee with a series of wild strikes but Vee uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ruas walks into a straight right hand from Vee. Ruas is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Ruas slips a jab from Vee. Ruas staying out of range there. Ruas shoots in and drives through. Vee sprawls well. Vee tests Ruas's chin there with a solid looking shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Vee misses with a body shot.
Vee throws a body punch but Ruas moves out of range. Ruas walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. No luck for Ruas with that takedown attempt. Ruas tries for a takedown but Vee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ruas fails to land the takedown. Vee throws out a counter right but Ruas avoids it with no problem. Vee throws a lazy right hand but Ruas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brandon Vee dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A looping hook to the body misses from Vee. Ruas does a little dance to reset his feet. Ruas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vee but Vee pushes him off and we're back to square one. Vee looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruas is just out of range. Vee pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice body punch from Vee. Ruas slips a straight right by Vee. Ruas throws out a loose jab but Vee uses good head movement to avoid it. Vee throws a hook to the side of Ruas's head but Ruas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vee. Vee throws an overhand right that lands on Ruas's shoulder, as Ruas tries to avoid the shot. Vee has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ruas takes a body punch but keeps moving. A big right from Vee misses. Vee connects with a single shot there. Vee misses with a right hand and Ruas counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Vee! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ruas controlling the position from side mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vee throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Vee avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Vee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A jab lands there for Vee. A jab from Vee misses. Ruas looks to land a left hand but Vee moved out of range nicely. Ruas misses with a looping right. Good work by Ruas as he checks the leg kick. Vee scores with a sloppy right hand. Ruas should have avoided that one. Ruas lands a really nice looking cross but Vee seems unphased.
Vee throws a nice outside leg kick. Vee lands with a nice body punch. Vee has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vee there as he acknowledges the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Vee walks into a stiff left hand from Ruas. Ruas looks to land a combination but Vee avoids it well. Ruas takes a swing at Vee's ribcage but misses. Ruas fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vee throws a push kick but Ruas slaps the foot to one side. Vee lands a jab to the head.

Ruas drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vee sprawls and moves away. Vee throws a good cross that connects.
Vee lands a nice hook to Ruas's body. Ruas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Vee moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Vee swings for the body but Ruas moves out of range.
Vee shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Ruas shoots in for a double leg but Vee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vee comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Ruas misses with a straight right. Vee slaps away a takedown attempt from Ruas, before circling back to the center of the mat. Vee throws a big shot that misses. Ruas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruas somewhat. Ruas walks into a jab. Ruas slips under a jab from Vee. Ruas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ruas looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Vee loads up on a big right hand but Ruas slips the punch. Vee stuns Ruas with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Vee looks to land a right hand but Ruas moved out of range. Vee lands with a good body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Vee leaves Ruas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Ruas or perhaps it was just good defense by Vee, which made it look bad. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruas loads up on a big right hand but Vee slips the punch. Ruas throws a lazy right hand but Vee sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ruas is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ruas loads up on a big right hand but Vee slips the punch. A swing and a miss from Vee. Ruas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Vee throws a shot from downtown. Ruas moves away and avoids it. Ruas lands a glancing blow to the side of Vee's head. Vee connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Ruas's hands. A lazy left from Ruas finds it's target. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vee displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ruas throws out the jab. A big right from Vee misses. Brandon Vee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vee uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ruas has time to react. Vee works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. We've been hearing that Ruas has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ruas tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Vee is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ruas has just dragged him back down to the mat. Vee is not content to let Ruas control the position. Ruas tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vee's legs. Vee is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ruas is controlling him well. Ruas is trying to get an arm triangle but Vee is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vee prevents Ruas from improving position. Vee wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Vee lands an overhand right. Brandon Vee seems to be getting the better of the standup. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Vee has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ruas is on him like a limpet, forcing Vee back against the cage. Vee lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ruas backwards. Vee tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Vee working some nice short punches in the clinch. Vee misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Carlos Ruas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Vee misses with some punches.
And that's the end of the fight! Brandon Vee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Vee winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
