These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Francisco Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryan Howard!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Summers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Howard wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Summers manages to pass to side control.

Summers tries to stand but can't do so whilst Howard controls his leg.
Summers thows a huge punch but Howard dodges it nicely.
Summers drops an elbow to the side of Howard's head.
Howard trying to control but Summers postures up.
Summers missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howard regains full guard. Nicely done.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Howard is on top in guard.

Howard tries to free his leg and advance position but Summers is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Howard not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Summers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Howard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Summers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Howard has managed to get both his arms back between Summers's legs - danger averted.

Summers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Howard defends it easily.
Howard with a nice head shot there.
Summers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Summers is on top in guard.

Summers throwing strikes but missing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Summers postures up.
Summers being controlled here momentarily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Summers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Summers is looking to work some ground and pound but Howard has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Summers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Howard is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Summers frees his head nicely. Oh but Howard has switched to an armbar! Summers is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Ryan Howard!
