Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Reilly (ranked 631 p4p, 106 weight class) and Ryu Aokison (ranked 834 p4p, 130 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Reilly might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Danko Jones - Do You Wanna Rock. Aokison has chosen Caroline as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Reilly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Aokison! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reilly displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Aokison throws out the jab. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Aokison checks a leg kick. A big right from Aokison misses. Aokison misses with a hook
letting Reilly counter with a right hand. Reilly gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Aokison throws an elbow that misses. Reilly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aokison's guard. Nice move by Reilly! Reilly pushes down on Aokison's leg and manages to get into half guard. Aokison wants to improve his position but Reilly is controlling well.
Aokison is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Reilly pulls his head out easily. Aokison is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reilly is keen to just control but Aokison is a slippery customer. Reilly is looking for a kimura but Aokison is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Reilly to get the leverage. Aokison trying to control but Reilly postures up.
Reilly wants to take a breather but Aokison is having none of it. Aokison regains full guard. Nicely done. Reilly slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Reilly tries to free his leg and advance position but Aokison is retaining full guard. Our spies down at at Xtreme Foaming Shortcakes inform us that Aokison has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Aokison bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reilly's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aokison missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Aokison in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Reilly is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Aokison throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reilly works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Aokison cracks Reilly with a solid left hand. Aokison throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Reilly looking to control.
Reilly seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Reilly being controlled here, momentarily. Aokison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reilly swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aokison throws an elbow that misses. Reilly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aokison's guard. Nice move by Reilly! Aokison is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aokison working Reilly over with strikes. Reilly is trying is best to control the position here. Reilly wants to control but Aokison is keeping busy and won't allow it. Aokison is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Reilly is just riding it out for now. Aokison eventually gives up the hold. Reilly is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Aokison scores with a couple of nice shots. Reilly keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Reilly on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Reilly tries to roll over but Aokison keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reilly trying to hold on to Aokison's head to control him but Aokison postures up.
Aokison missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Reilly might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Reilly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aokison is working away from the top position though. Reilly is trying to get back to full guard. Reilly avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aokison. Aokison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Aokison prevents Reilly from improving his position. Aokison throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Reilly tries to roll over but Aokison keeps him under control. Reilly taking some punishment here, with Aokison in his half guard. Reilly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aokison is working away from the top position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryu Aokison dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Aokison's jab looks to have found its range, popping Reilly under the eye. Aokison throws a jab when Reilly was well out of range. Reilly was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A swing and a miss from Aokison. Aokison buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Aokison fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Reilly looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Aokison misses the body punch and Reilly counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Aokison misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reilly walks into a left hand. Aokison connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Aokison misses with a body shot
and Reilly counters with a nice uppercut. Aokison swats away the attempt to clinch by Reilly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aokison comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Reilly blocks a jab. Aokison swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Reilly counters with a lovely shot to the body. Reilly moves out of range of the strikes. Reilly appears to be looking for a big counter. Aokison showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Reilly.
Reilly tries to move into range but Aokison moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Ryu Aokison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A looping hook to the body misses from Reilly. Aokison does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Reilly, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Aokison takes one on the button. Reilly steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Aokison. As Aokison tries to get set, Reilly tries to push him back and clinch up but Aokison manages to avoid the attempt. Aokison punishes Reilly's body with a nice straight punch. Aokison closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aokison fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Aokison throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Reilly is looking for a sweep. Aokison working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Aokison is putting a hurting on Reilly here, landing some big shots from side control. Ryu Aokison has got the better of the ground game so far. Aokison has an Americana. Reilly didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Aokison is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Aokison hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
