Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Stermann (ranked 6302 p4p, 257 weight class) and Shane Myres (ranked 6891 p4p, 263 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Stermann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Myres! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stermann goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Myres is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Stermann lands a head kick!
Stermann lands a glancing blow to the side of Myres's head. Stermann fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Myres. Stermann swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. We've been hearing reports that Stermann has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Stermann shoots for a double leg takedown but Myres sprawls well. He's pushed Stermann's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Myres wants to counter the offense by Stermann and move into the clinch position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stermann throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Myres. Stermann tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Myres swivels and escapes. Stermann misses with an uppercut. Myres steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Stermann. Stermann throws a wild body kick that Myres sees coming a mile off. Myres tries to counter by closing the distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stermann is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Myres. Myres is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Steve Stermann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Myres moves out of range of the body kick from Stermann.
Stermann shoots in looking for a takedown but Myres manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stermann's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Myres is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Stermann. That's going to take a lot out of him. Myres stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Myres wants it to stay on the feet. Myres slaps away a takedown attempt from Stermann, before circling back to the center of the mat. Stermann wants to land a leg kick but Myres is out of range. A leg kick checked by Myres. Myres wants to counter the offense by Stermann and move into the clinch position. Stermann misses with an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stermann throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Myres on the side of the head. Stermann tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Stermann clobbers Myres with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Stermann shoots for a takedown but Myres saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Stermann sets himself, and Myres steps forward looking for the clinch! Stermann avoids it this time. Good work by Myres as he checks the leg kick. Myres wants to counter the offense by Stermann and move into the clinch position. Stermann fails with a takedown attempt. Stermann is breathing heavily. Myres wants to counter with a clinch but Stermann pushes him away. We've been informed that Myres has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Stermann swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Myres tries to counter by closing the distance. Stermann tries to work over Myres's front leg with a kick but Myres checks it. Myres wants to counter with a clinch but Stermann pushes him away. Stermann throws a push kick but Myres slaps the foot to one side. Myres tries to counter by closing the distance. No luck for Stermann with that takedown attempt. Stermann throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Stermann. Myres tries to counter by closing the distance. Stermann misses with a kick to the body.

It looks like Steve Stermann has been cut. Myres lands an elbow that stopped Stermann in his tracks for a moment. Stermann takes an elbow to the forehead. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Myres lands an elbow just above Stermann 's eye. Myres connects with a nasty looking knee right to Stermann's face.

Stermann is rocked! Stermann wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Myres has him pressed against the cage. Myres lands a nice elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Shane Myres will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Steve Stermann's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Myres ducks under a wild hook from Stermann. Stermann's corner calls for a 1-2. Stermann obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Stermann throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Stermann looks for a takedown but Myres sprawls well. Myres checks a low kick from Stermann. Myres wants to counter the offense by Stermann and move into the clinch position. Stermann will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jeez, Steve Stermann's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Myres lands an elbow inside that Stermann shrugs off.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Steve Stermann's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
