Niaz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by deftones - feiticeira. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Dick Niaz! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Niaz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Grena manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Niaz closes the distance and pushes Grena back into the cage. Grena tightens his grip and picks Niaz up, before dumping him to the ground. Niaz manages to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Grena (2) vs (0) Niaz The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Niaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Grena defends it easily. Grena stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Niaz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Niaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grena passes Niaz's left leg - he's now in half guard. Grena looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Niaz felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grena is thwarting Niaz's attempts to control the position. Niaz is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Grena has latched onto it... Big trouble! Grena pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Niaz is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Grena!

Umberto Grena tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. In defeat, Dick Niaz stepped up to the mic, saying 'I won that shit'. |
