Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Teeth Ferret (ranked 6900 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Sykes (ranked 5568 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Teeth Ferret! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Jacob Sykes! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sykes tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Ferret counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ferret (2) vs (0) Sykes Ferret with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Ferret is thwarting Sykes's attempts to control the position. Sykes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferret controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sykes isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ferret stacks Sykes on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ferret! Ferret is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sykes will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Ferret has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Sykes wants to control but instead Ferret manages to regain half guard. Ferret keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Ferret continues to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sykes wants to advance to full mount but Ferret doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Ferret wants to sweep here but Sykes controlling him for the moment.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Sykes is looking to pass into half guard but Ferret pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Ferret is in guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Ferret (7) vs (4) Sykes Ferret postures up.
Ferret is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Ferret passes Sykes's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sykes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ferret perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Ferret is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sykes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sykes wants to control but Ferret postures up. Ferret taking a breather here.

Sykes tries to lock up and control but Ferret gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ferret is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sykes has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Ferret looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Sykes wants to control but Ferret is having none of it. Ferret has control of Sykes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sykes regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Ferret wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sykes, who protects the arm well. Ferret controlling the position. Ferret thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Ferret controls the position from side control.

Sykes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ferret wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ferret is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sykes will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! Ferret takes the fight on points by 12 to 4. A relieved looking Teeth Ferret thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
