And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Rickson Silva! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Gracie goes for a double leg but Silva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silva continues to drive forward. And Silva tries to counter it with a takedown but Gracie pushes his down on his head and steps out. Gracie is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gracie fails with the takedown. Silva gets the takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Gracie (0) vs (4) Silva Silva taking a breather here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Gracie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Silva is continuing to stall. Gracie is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it. Gracie seems a little lost for a moment, as Silva dominates the positioning. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gracie looks calm but he's in trouble here. Silva gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gracie is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Silva lets go of the hold and Gracie can pop his arm back in it's socket.
