Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Plunkett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alen Zalac!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zalac will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Plunkett shoots in but no luck this time.
Plunkett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Plunkett or perhaps it was just good defense by Zalac, which made it look bad.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Zalac! But no joy.
Zalac fails to land the takedown.
Plunkett fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Zalac swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Plunkett. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zalac wants a takedown but no success here.

Zalac tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Plunkett just stands there and leans against the cage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Plunkett.
Plunkett is looking for a takedown.
Zalac looking to slow down the pace here.
Zalac has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Plunkett after a bit of a struggle.
Plunkett is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Plunkett is working for takedown but Zalac is calmly controlling the position for now.

Zalac with a flurry of punches that miss.
Plunkett wants to control but Zalac passes easily into half guard.
Plunkett looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zalac is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Zalac is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Plunkett is positioning himself well to prevent Zalac advancing to mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zalac lands with a punch from half guard.
Zalac working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Plunkett regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Zalac.
Zalac connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Plunkett utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Plunkett controls Zalac momentarily but Zalac frees himself.

Plunkett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zalac can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Zalac loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jake Plunkett will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Plunkett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Zalac fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

enabling Zalac to counter with a crisp jab.
Zalac fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Plunkett avoids it really well and circles away.

A little jabbing left from Zalac on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Plunkett fails with a takedown attempt.

Zalac shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zalac showed some decent athleticism there.
Plunkett flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Zalac thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Alen Zalac has got the better of the ground game so far.
Plunkett is trying to control but can't.

Zalac has gone for a leg lock! Plunkett slips out almost immediately though and dives into Zalac's guard.

Plunkett pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zalac is keeping the position for now.

Zalac is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zalac has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Plunkett sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Zalac doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Plunkett paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Zalac - great work!
