Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Magomedov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Simone pulls guard effortlessly. Simone really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Magomedov wants to control from the top but Simone keeps moving. Magomedov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Simone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Magomedov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Magomedov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simone controls Magomedov momentarily but Magomedov frees himself. Magomedov tries to free his leg and advance position but Simone is retaining full guard. Simone will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Magomedov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Magomedov is keen to just control but Simone is a slippery customer.

Magomedov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Simone doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Magomedov. That's six minutes gone in the round. Simone won't allow Magomedov to sweep him here. Simone sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Magomedov's guard. Simone seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Magomedov won't allow Simone to pass to mount. Magomedov looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Magomedov tries to roll over but Simone keeps him under control. Simone performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Simone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Magomedov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Magomedov gets back to full guard.
Simone passes into half guard. Simone has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Magomedov defend it? Simone steps over the head and cranks it - Magomedov is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Simone!
