0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Bill! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bill wants to clinch but Evans slips to the side and Evans counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bill scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Billy Bill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans lands a leg kick that knocks Bill off balance momentarily. Bill darts in trying to clinch and Evans counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Evans lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Bill keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bill flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Bill has hold of Evans's hands but Evans slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Bill looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Evans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bill's head. Evans looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Evans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bill wants to get back to full guard.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bill with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Evans is nestled in close to Bill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
