The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rootin darts in and clinches the spanner up against the cage. Rootin controlling the action here for a moment.

Rootin unloads a knee to the mid-section. the spanner lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Rootin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rootin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

the spanner takes an elbow to the temple. Rootin just leaning against the spanner, taking a breather. Rootin landing knees to the body.
the spanner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rootin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. the spanner is trying to break free. Rootin landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Rootin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. the spanner fights it off and pushes away nicely.
the spanner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Rootin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by the spanner.

That's two minutes gone in the round. the spanner cracks Rootin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
the spanner pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Rootin wants to control but the spanner is having none of it. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, the spanner cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round. the spanner throwing strikes here but Rootin is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Rootin blocking the ground and pound. Rootin is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. the spanner postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rootin looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. the spanner lands with some strikes. A nice elbow there by the spanner. Rootin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. the spanner landing strikes from the mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. the spanner is in the full mount, landing strikes. the spanner with the ground and pound from mount. Rootin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. the spanner working away from the top, dropping strikes. the spanner is working for a guillotine from mount but Rootin frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boss Rootin dominated that round. The cut man is working on mark the spanner's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Rootin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and the spanner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by the spanner. the spanner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. the spanner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. the spanner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. the spanner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Rootin has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but the spanner has passed into side control.
the spanner has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. You can see the frustration on Rootin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rootin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but the spanner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. the spanner wants to control but Rootin is keeping him busy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. the spanner stands up and beckons Rootin to his feet. the spanner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - the spanner lands in his opponent's guard. Rootin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for the spanner on the ground. the spanner postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. the spanneris looking to pass into half guard but Rootin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rootin is in guard. the spanner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rootin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. the spanner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. the spanner punishing his opponent with strikes. Rootin working to try and regain half guard.

mark the spanner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on mark the spanner's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Rootin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. the spanner wants to control from the top but Rootin keeps moving. Rootin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rootin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rootin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rootin looking for a sweep. Not yet Rootin, not yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from the spanner. Rootin tries to clinch and the spanner counters with a nice double leg into half guard. the spanner works his way into full mount! Rootin is looking to improve his position but the spanner isn't that keen on the idea. mark the spanner has got the better of the ground game so far. the spanner looking to ground and pound but Rootin is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. the spanner is landing with some decent strikes but Rootin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. the spanner thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rootin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. the spanner lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Rootin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of the spanner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take the spanner's back! Will Rootin go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
