Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Rustam Shakhbulatov (ranked 888 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dado Mata (ranked 904 p4p, 0 weight class). Shakhbulatov comes to the cage accompanied by Sabina Saidova - Dagestan. The crowd seem to be enjoying Mata's choice of entrance music: 和楽器バンド / 千本桜. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Rustam Shakhbulatov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 12 losses; Dado Mata! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Shakhbulatov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mata swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mata gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shakhbulatov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shakhbulatov. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Shakhbulatov (2) vs (0) Mata Mata keeping moving, preventing Shakhbulatov from controlling successfully. Mata working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shakhbulatov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shakhbulatov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shakhbulatov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mata felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Shakhbulatov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. This is a sustained period of stalling by Shakhbulatov. Mata is not content to let Shakhbulatov control the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mata manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shakhbulatov's best efforts.
