Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malik Battle (ranked 6219 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lukas Chomsli (ranked 4086 p4p, 0 weight class). Lukas Chomsli has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Malik Battle's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Malik Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lukas Chomsli!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle stuffs the takedown attempt from Chomsli. Chomsli gets slowly back to his feet.
Battle tries to close the distance and clinch but Chomsli swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Chomsli gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Battle manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Battle takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Chomsli has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chomsli pulls guard.

Battle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Chomsli bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Battle's guard.

Battle working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Chomsli has passed into half guard!
Chomsli throwing shots but Battle is blocking nicely.
Battle wants to improve his position but Chomsli is controlling well.
Chomsli tries to pass the half guard into mount. Battle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Battle is looking to escape.

Chomsli wants to work for an arm triangle but Battle is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Chomsli is pressing down on Battle's thigh, looking to free his foot. Battle is holding on for now.

Chomsli slows the pace down in half guard.
Chomsli wants to control but Battle is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Battle kicks Chomsli off and gets back to his feet.
Battle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chomsli tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Battle fails with an attempt to clinch.

Chomsli goes for a double leg but Battle avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Battle continues to drive forward.
Battle drops down looking for a counter takedown but Chomsli sprawls and moves away.

Chomsli closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Battle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Battle tries to roll over but Chomsli keeps him under control.

Chomsli is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Chomsli is trying to control. Battle wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Still in half guard, Chomsli seems content to control.
Chomsli thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Battle is doing well to control the position and prevent Chomsli from advancing to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chomsli missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Battle is trying to get back to full guard.
Chomsli is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Chomsli is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Chomsli is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Battle is just riding it out for now. Chomsli eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Chomsli is working for a kimura but Battle is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chomsli takes the fight into the clinch.

Chomsli turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Chomsli manages to end up in side control.
A lull in the action here as Chomsli stalls from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battle is trying to get back to half guard.

The referee asks Chomsli politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Chomsli prefers to stall for the moment though.
Chomsli advances to mount.
Battle tries to hold on but Chomsli postures up.
Battle is looking to get to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Chomsli stands up from mount. Strange move.

Chomsli instigates a clinch.
Battle taking a breather.

Chomsli has picked Battle up - he's going for a ride! Chomsli dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chomsli in particular looking to stall.
Battle is not content to let Chomsli control the position.
Battle strikes from the bottom but Chomsli uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Battle is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chomsli controls the position.
Chomsli creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Chomsli is chipping away with strikes.

Chomsli tries for a kimura but Battle is defending well.
Chomsli connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Battle some visible discomfort.

Battle gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chomsli has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Chomsli fails to move to back control.
Battle is squirming around, avoiding Chomsli's attempts to control the action.
Lukas Chomsli has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Chomsli goes for an armbar but Battle turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Battle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lukas Chomsli showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Battle slaps away a takedown attempt from Chomsli, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Battle drops down looking for a counter takedown but Chomsli sprawls and moves away.

Chomsli closes the distance and clinches.
Stalling in the clinch from Battle.
Chomsli tries to pull guard but Battle forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Battle throws a knee to the head but misses.
Battle stalling against the cage.

Chomsli successfully pulls guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chomsli working a defensive guard but Battle manages to pass into side control anyway.
Chomsli regains half guard.

Chomsli gets full guard.
Battle is in close to Chomsli's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Chomsli is trying to keep Battle in close.

Chomsli has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Battle doesn't defend quickly enough and Chomsli has managed to lock this one up! Can Battle escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Chomsli on a fantastic submission victory.
