Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Will The Thrill (ranked 2414 p4p, 297 weight class) and Slash Slingin (ranked 2839 p4p, 337 weight class). The Thrill comes to the cage accompanied by Shooting Stars. The crowd seem to be enjoying Slingin's choice of entrance music: Drop The World. 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Slash Slingin! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slingin dives in for a single leg takedown but The Thrill sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Slash Slingin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The Thrill smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The Thrill keeps the fight on the outside. The Thrill tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Slingin manages to circle out of the way. The Thrill gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Slingin to score an easy takedown into full guard. The Thrill is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The Thrill being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slingin works over The Thrill with some ground and pound from guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Slingin postures up in The Thrill's guard and throws a big left but The Thrill blocks it. The Thrill has momentary wrist control but Slingin slips an elbow through the middle. The Thrill has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. The Thrill working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Slingin.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slingin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The Thrill definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Slingin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Slingin working the ground and pound. Slingin is trying to get an arm triangle but The Thrill is defending well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Slingin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, The Thrill has escaped the position, nice work there. The Thrill is not content to let Slingin control the position. Slingin postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slingin lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Slingin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Slingin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The Thrill is working to avoid the ground and pound but Slingin connects with a decent elbow. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Slingin working the head with strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Slingin cracks The Thrill with an elbow. That is naaassty. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Slash Slingin dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
The Thrill fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slingin manages to avoid it. Slingin darts in and clinches The Thrill up against the cage. The Thrill lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Slingin or not. Slingin jumps guard but The Thrill stands there with Slingin around his waist. Slingin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Slingin pulls guard effortlessly. Slingin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Thrill defends it easily. The Thrill looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Thrill avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The Thrill has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Slingin looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but The Thrill is defending well. Slingin quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! The Thrill has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Slingin celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Slash Slingin! Slash Slingin retains his welterweight title! Slash Slingin spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
