Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abdur Rahman Hodges (ranked 3049 p4p, 323 weight class) and James Hackett (ranked 23332 p4p, 579 weight class). James Hackett is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abdur Rahman Hodges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Hackett! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hodges bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hackett isn't going anywhere. Hackett is trying to buck Hodges off. You can see the frustration on Hackett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hackett stuck in half guard on the bottom here. Hodges tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Hackett struggling a bit here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hodges in the domination position with Hackett hanging on. You can see the frustration on Hackett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hodges wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hackett keeps working. Hodges tries for a kimura but Hackett is defending well. Hodges is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hackett knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Hackett has one of Hodges's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Hodges looking to control but instead Hackett has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Hackett is positioning himself well to prevent Hodges advancing to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hackett avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hodges. Hackett is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Hackett won't allow Hodges to pass to mount. Hackett is positioning himself well to prevent Hodges advancing to mount. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hackett is trying to get back to full guard. Hodges is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hackett desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hodges shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hodges showed some decent athleticism there. Hackett controlling the position well. Hodges is looking to take a break and control but Hackett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hackett has his hands clasped together around Hodges's back. He's all about the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hodges trying to mount his opponent but Hackett defends it. Hackett keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hodges is working for a kimura but Hackett is defending it quite comfortably.

Abdur Rahman Hodges dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hackett looks to score with a jab to the body but Hodges is just out of range. Hodges moves out of range as Hackett strikes. Hackett misses with an uppercut. Hodges tries for a takedown but Hackett circles away easily and Hackett counters with a nice uppercut. Abdur Rahman Hodges is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hackett avoids the head kick by Hodges.
Hackett swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hodges throws a solid leg kick but Hackett takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hodges. Hackett throws out a counter right but Hodges avoids it with no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hodges shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hackett pinned against the cage. Hackett gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hodges has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hackett finds it's way round the side to connect with Hodges's head. Hodges misses with a takedown attempt and Hackett counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abdur Rahman Hodges. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hodges uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hackett. Hodges misses with a leg kick and Hodges takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hodges wants to slow Hackett down by chopping away at his legs. Hackett lands a body shot.
Hackett misses with an uppercut. Hodges throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Hackett appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hodges throws a leg kick and Hackett connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A low kick from Hodges is predictable there enabling Hackett to counter with a crisp jab. Hodges fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hodges steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hackett. Abdur Rahman Hodges seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hodges blocks a jab. Hackett might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Hackett swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hodges throws a leg kick but Hackett checks it. Hodges misses with a takedown attempt and Hackett counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodges throws a leg kick and Hackett counters with a nice right hand that sends Hodges toppling to the canvas! Hodges scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Hackett finish him?!
Hodges is rocked! Hackett lands a big uppercut and Hodges crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hodges looks OK. Hackett waves Hodges back to his feet! Oh Hodges is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hackett drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Hodges's head, knocking him out cold! Hackett is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James Hackett!
