Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cliff Rigano (ranked 4266 p4p, 446 weight class) and Nick Dalton (ranked 2124 p4p, 276 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Cliff Rigano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Dalton!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dalton with a nice cross.
A cross from Dalton lands.
Dalton cracks Rigano with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nick Dalton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dalton fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Rigano is out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Rigano on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Dalton attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Rigano shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dalton defends it nicely.
Dalton throws out a counter right but Rigano avoids it with no problem.

Rigano shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rigano showed some decent athleticism there.
Rigano takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Rigano is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dalton is looking to escape.

Dalton won't allow Rigano to pass to mount.
Dalton looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rigano is nestled in close to Dalton, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rigano is looking for a kimura here.

Dalton tries to kick Rigano off but Rigano keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Dalton has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rigano is on him like a limpet, forcing Dalton back against the ropes.

Dalton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dalton lands a nice hook to Rigano's body. Rigano takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Dalton throws a leg kick which misses Rigano's front leg but catches the back leg as Rigano tries to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Dalton dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Dalton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dalton lands with a hook. Rigano tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Dalton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dalton misses with a left hand
and Rigano counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Nick Dalton has been cut.
Rigano moves out of range of the strikes.
Rigano thinks about countering with a head kick.
Dalton scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Dalton swings widly with a right hand
and Rigano counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dalton motions for Rigano to come forward. Dalton throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Dalton turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Dalton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dalton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rigano slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Rigano goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dalton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rigano but great work by Dalton.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rigano gets back to half guard.
Rigano tries to get to full guard but Dalton has control of the leg.

Dalton is looking to stand up but Rigano won't let him.
Dalton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dalton wants to stand but Rigano has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Dalton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Dalton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rigano is defended easily by Dalton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Nick Dalton will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Dalton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rigano doesn't seem bothered though.
Dalton changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
The fighters circling - Dalton throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dalton misses with a hook
and Rigano counters with a nice uppercut.
Rigano blocks a jab.
Dalton lands a nice shot that snaps Rigano's head back.
Dalton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rigano.
Dalton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rigano stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rigano jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Dalton slips a jab and a cross from Rigano.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dalton throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Dalton throws a body punch but Rigano moves out of range.
Cliff Rigano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rigano takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rigano goes for a double leg but Dalton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Dalton continues to drive forward.
Dalton misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rigano fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cliff Rigano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dalton scores with the left hand. Rigano knows he should have avoided that one.
Dalton pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rigano is out of range and Dalton settles back down.
Rigano closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Rigano shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Dalton wants to get back to his feet but Rigano passes into half guard.
Cliff Rigano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nick Dalton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rigano wants to take a breather but Dalton is having none of it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dalton wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rigano ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dalton moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Dalton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dalton winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
