The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lanier keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vanlaque looks for a takedown but Lanier sprawls well.
Lanier throws a head kick but Vanlaque moves out of range.
Reico Vanlaque seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lanier tries to clinch up but Vanlaque circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lanier shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Vanlaque's guard.

Lanier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vanlaque swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vanlaque working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lanier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lanier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lanier is sitting in close to Vanlaque's body. Vanlaque has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lanier is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lanier is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Vanlaque.
