Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ali Bartlett (ranked 4841 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chak Norkjis (ranked 6601 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ali Bartlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chak Norkjis!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Norkjis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bartlett's guard.
Bartlett keeping moving, preventing Norkjis from controlling successfully.
Bartlett utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Norkjis throwing strikes from guard but Bartlett blocks nicely.
Norkjis trying to control the position from guard on top but Bartlett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bartlett is trying to control the position but Norkjis postures up.
Norkjis stops Bartlett from standing up.
Bartlett controls Norkjis momentarily but Norkjis frees himself.

and Bartlett holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Norkjis fails to land.

Bartlett lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Norkjis backwards.

Norkjis jumps guard and drags Bartlett to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bartlett is looking for a kimura but Norkjis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bartlett to get the leverage.
Norkjis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bartlett is looking to take a break and control but Norkjis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bartlett looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Norkjis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Norkjis tries to roll over but Bartlett keeps him under control.

Norkjis is defending against the submission attempts here by Bartlett.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

A close round but Chak Norkjis will probably get the nod.

Norkjis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bartlett escapes and throws Norkjis's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bartlett got a little sloppy there for a moment and Norkjis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bartlett has managed to get both his arms back between Norkjis's legs - danger averted.

Bartlett is looking to stand up but Norkjis won't let him.

Bartlett is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Norkjis wants to sweep but Bartlett has passed to side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Norkjis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bartlett manages to get himself to full guard.

Norkjis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Norkjis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Norkjis postures up in Bartlett's guard and throws a big left but Bartlett blocks it.
Bartlett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bartlett gets tackled into the cage by Norkjis. Norkjis maintains the clinch.
Bartlett is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Norkjis is defending well for now.
Norkjis lands a left hand that snaps the head of Bartlett backwards.

Bartlett comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Bartlett jumps guard but Norkjis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Norkjis as Bartlett tries to tie him up.

Norkjis lands a brutal head kick. Bartlett looks out on his feet and Norkjis throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
