Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mads Rasmussen (ranked 4806 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rutger Myers (ranked 22877 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mads Rasmussen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rutger Myers!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasmussen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Myers scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rasmussen manages to mount him!
Rasmussen breaks from Myers's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Rasmussen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Myers is looking to escape.

Rasmussen has hold of Myers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Myers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Rasmussen wants to finish this one by submission but Myers is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rasmussen.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rasmussen is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Myers has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rasmussen throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Myers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rasmussen with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Myers is looking to get to half guard.
Myers is squirming around, avoiding Rasmussen's attempts to control the action.

Rasmussen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Myers manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Myers is trying to improve his position.

Rasmussen has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Rasmussen goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Myers is on top in guard.
Myers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Myers distracts Rasmussen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Myers postures up in Rasmussen's guard and throws a big left but Rasmussen blocks it.

Myers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rasmussen is breathing heavily.
Myers tries to free his leg and advance position but Rasmussen is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Myers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rasmussen dives on top into guard.

Myers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rasmussen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Myers looking for a sweep. Not yet Myers, not yet.

Rasmussen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rasmussen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Myers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rasmussen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rasmussen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Myers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rasmussen postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Rasmussen is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Myers.

Myers has closed the distance and engaged Rasmussen in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Myers has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rasmussen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Myers pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rasmussen tries a body shot but Myers blocks it.
Myers lands a hook to the side of the head.
Myers avoiding damage as Rasmussen throws knees to the body.
A right hook to the body lands for Myers.
Rasmussen is trying to pull guard but Myers has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rasmussen is fighting off a takedown attempt but Myers is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rasmussen to the mat. Rasmussen regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Rasmussen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Myers wants to control from the top but Rasmussen keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Myers lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Myers throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rasmussen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Myers postures up and lands a big shot to Rasmussen's brow.
Rasmussen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rasmussen tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Myers sitting in guard here, content to control.
Myers looking to sit in guard and control but Rasmussen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Myers wants to sweep here but Rasmussen controlling him for the moment.

Mads Rasmussen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rasmussen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rasmussen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Myers wants to control but Rasmussen postures up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rasmussen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Myers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rasmussen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Myers wants to control but Rasmussen postures up.

Rutger Myers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Rasmussen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Rasmussen gets the takedown into side control.
Rasmussen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Myers keeps working.
Rasmussen advances to full mount.

Rasmussen has control of Myers's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Myers regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Rasmussen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Myers is surviving well by controlling Rasmussen's body position as best he can.
