Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Oriola (ranked 204 p4p, 33 weight class) and Gasan Yakolev (ranked 1041 p4p, 129 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Oriola! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gasan Yakolev! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yakolev tests Oriola's chin there with a solid looking shot. Yakolev lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Yakolev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Oriola appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Yakolev misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Oriola.
Oriola feinted there with a counter leg kick. Yakolev fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Oriola on the side of the head. Oriola throws out a leg kick but Yakolev moves out of range and Oriola only half commits. As Oriola backs off Yakolev throws a huge counter combo but Oriola manages to avoid it all. Yakolev throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oriola feinted there with a counter leg kick. Yakolev throws the left hand but Oriola avoids the punch easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oriola lands with a slapping head kick. Yakolev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Yakolev throws a series of punches but Oriola moves out of range. Yakolev jabbing away but nothing is landing. Yakolev lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Oriola backs up against the ropes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oriola throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Yakolev swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. No joy there for Yakolev, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oriola appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Yakolev looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Oriola tries to counter with a takedown but Yakolev is quick to defend against it. Yakolev throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Oriola. Oriola appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Oriola looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Yakolev! Oriola advances to full mount. Oriola trying to control but Yakolev is having none of it. Yakolev wants to control but Oriola is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oriola has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Yakolev's face.
The referee warns Yakolev that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Yakolev is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Oriola connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Yakolev is still in real trouble! Can Oriola finish him? Oooh a big shot lands for Oriola! Yakolev is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Diego Oriola! Diego Oriola was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
