PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Mogweister (ranked 5570 p4p, 512 weight class) and Johnny Santos (ranked 2069 p4p, 262 weight class). Mogweister comes into the arena with Show me how to live, Audioslave. blaring out of the sound system. Santos has chosen Nazareth- Let Me Be Your Leader as his entrance music. Johnny Santos will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Mogweister !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Santos!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Santos looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Mogweister pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Santos connects with a massive knee from the clinch and Mogweister goes down! Santos jumps into full mount looking to finish!


It looks like Rob Mogweister has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Santos sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Mogweister tries to hold on but Santos postures up.
Mogweister is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mogweister is working hard here to advance position.
Mogweister has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Santos's lack of action.
Santos thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Santos is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Santos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mogweister manages to get to full guard.
Santos wants to stand but Mogweister is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mogweister keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Santos works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Santos moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mogweister .
Santos cracks Mogweister with a big elbow.
Mogweister can't do much from the bottom here.
Mogweister has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos trying to control the action but Mogweister is working from the bottom.
Santos wants to stand but Mogweister has his arm trapped.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Santos wants to control but Mogweister is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mogweister shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Santos throws a series of punches but Mogweister avoids them all with ease.
Mogweister appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Santos lands with an uppercut that bounces Mogweister off the cage and back into range.
Mogweister moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Santos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It appears Mogweister was looking to counter with a kick there.
Santos throws a combination that misses
and Mogweister connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Johnny Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mogweister was well out of range. Poor timing from Santos.
Santos scores with a shot to the body.
Santos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Santos closes the distance and pushes Mogweister back into the cage.
Santos landing knees to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Santos throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mogweister blocks it with crossed arms.
Mogweister fails to pull guard.
Santos takes a shot to the head.
Mogweister is stalling here.
Mogweister wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mogweister is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Santos tries to land a knee to the head but Mogweister blocks with his arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Santos dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rob Mogweister 's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Santos throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Mogweister counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Santos scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Santos cracks Mogweister with a left hook right on the temple and Mogweister goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Santos lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Mogweister is OK!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Johnny Santos!
Johnny Santos spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
