Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sydney Pace (ranked 24920 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crug Dormson (ranked 4634 p4p, 0 weight class). Sydney Pace has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sydney Pace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crug Dormson!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dormson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pace manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Dormson is standing up over Pace. Pace looks to escape but Dormson dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pace is not content to let Dormson control the position.
Pace wants to control but Dormson postures up.
The ground and pound from Dormson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pace can't do much from the bottom here.
Pace is trying to buck Dormson off.

Dormson swings around for an armbar but Pace sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dormson's guard.
Pace trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pace is stalling in the full guard.
Pace is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Pace drops back looking for a leg! Dormson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dormson manages to kick Pace off! Pace jumps back into Dormson's guard.

Dormson wants to sweep here but Pace controlling him for the moment.
Pace is working Dormson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Pace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dormson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Pace looking to sit in guard and control but Dormson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pace seems keen to control Dormson's posture.
Pace throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Dormson won't allow Pace to get back to his feet.
Pace pulls Dormson in close to prevent any damage.
Pace controls Dormson momentarily but Dormson frees himself.

Dormson won't allow Pace to get back to his feet.
Dormson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pace is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crug Dormson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Dormson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Dormson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Pace bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Pace shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dormson as he avoids it easily.
Dormson wants to counter with a clinch but Pace pushes him away.

Dormson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pace is trying to defend but Dormson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Pace really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pace is controlling Dormson's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Dormson stops Pace from getting back to his feet.

Dormson trying to control from Pace's half guard. Pace has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Sydney Pace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pace wants to get back to his feet but Dormson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pace is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dormson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pace.

Dormson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pace on his heels. He'll look to pass Pace's guard now, I'm sure.

Dormson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pace swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pace pulls Dormson in close to prevent any damage.

Pace scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Pace fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sydney Pace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dormson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pace landing strikes from the bottom.
Dormson is looking to advance position but Pace won't allow it.
Pace is trying to maintain the position but Dormson is very close to passing his half guard.
Pace is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dormson wants to pass the guard but Pace is defending well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Crug Dormson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Pace shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dormson sprawls well. Dormson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pace gets slowly back to his feet.

Dormson clinches up with Pace and pushes him back against the cage.

Dormson jumps guard and drags Pace to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dormson shoots in and gets a takedown into Pace's guard.
Pace is looking to stand back up but Dormson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Pace.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!


Dormson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pace sees it coming and defends easily.
Pace regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Dormson.
Dormson trying to control the position from guard on top but Pace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dormson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pace keeping moving, preventing Dormson from controlling successfully.
Pace throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Pace trying to keep a closed guard but Dormson is proving a slippery customer.
Pace will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pace thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Pace wants to stand and escape but Dormson is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pace looks up at the clock and then as Dormson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pace smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sydney Pace.
I think Dormson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
