Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between James Dean Rockefeller (ranked 1292 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pascual Perez (ranked 2020 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Another One Bites The Dust. Pascual Perez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 1 losses; Pascual Perez! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Rockefeller looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Perez drives through and clinches with Rockefeller against the cage.
Perez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rockefeller uses from the top position. Perez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rockefeller defends it easily. Rockefeller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Rockefeller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rockefeller can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rockefeller is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rockefeller is trying to control the action in half guard but Perez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Perez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Perez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rockefeller is working away from the top position though. Rockefeller is working for a submission of some sort.
Perez told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Rockefeller can't keep his opponent in guard - Perez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Perez is keen to just control but Rockefeller is a slippery customer. Perez looking for a submission but Rockefeller manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Perez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rockefeller knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

But no, Rockefeller has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Perez but great work by Rockefeller. We've been hearing good reports from Rockefeller's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Perez is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Perez tries to control but Rockefeller manages to take his back.
