Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Len Guerrero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rene Polnareff! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guerrero throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Polnareff's waist but Polnareff gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guerrero off to one side. Polnareff shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Polnareff was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Polnareff scoring with punches from side control. Polnareff tries for a kimura but Guerrero is defending well. Guerrero wants to get back to his feet but Polnareff drags him back down. Polnareff is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Polnareff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Guerrero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Guerrero tries to control but Polnareff manages to take his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guerrero rolls, trying to escape but Polnareff keeps control of the position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Polnareff's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Guerrero remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Polnareff will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Polnareff is working for the rear naked choke. Polnareff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guerrero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Polnareff has his opponent's back but Guerrero is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Polnareff. Polnareff decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Guerrero kicks Polnareff off and gets back to his feet. Polnareff rushes Guerrero and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Polnareff successfully pulls guard.
Guerrero stands up from guard. Let's bang! A momentary lapse in concentration from Guerrero enables Polnareff to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Guerrero manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are working up against the cage. Guerrero manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Guerrero tries to break free but Polnareff pushes him back against the cage. Polnareff holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Guerrero jumps guard but Polnareff stands there with Guerrero around his waist. Guerrero gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Polnareff's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Polnareff displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Guerrero. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Len Guerrero. That's going to take a lot out of him. Polnareff is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guerrero's half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Polnareff stalling away here and it's allowed Guerrero to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Polnareff trying to control but Guerrero is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Polnareff seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Guerrero could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Polnareff gets the takedown into side control. Guerrero bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Polnareff closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Guerrero to the mat! Guerrero manages to get full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Guerrero keeping moving, preventing Polnareff from controlling successfully. Polnareff prevents Guerrero from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Polnareff sitting in guard here, content to control. Polnareff tries to free his leg and advance position but Guerrero is retaining full guard. Polnareff is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Guerrero controls Polnareff momentarily but Polnareff frees himself. Guerrero working for a triangle but Polnareff defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Polnareff controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Polnareff wants to stand and escape but instead Guerrero has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Guerrero gets to his feet. Polnareff looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Polnareff pushes Guerrero up against the cage in a clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Polnareff wants to stand and escape but instead Guerrero has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Polnareff wants to improve his position but instead Guerrero has moved into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Guerrero stands up from half guard. Polnareff is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guerrero's half guard. Guerrero kicks Polnareff off and gets back to his feet. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Guerrero shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Polnareff sprawls well. Polnareff wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Guerrero gets slowly back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Polnareff feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Guerrero trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Polnareff has taken the fight to the clinch.
Polnareff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Guerrero shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Polnareff pinned against the cage. Polnareff gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Polnareff has managed to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Guerrero has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Polnareff avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Polnareff breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Guerrero moves out of range of the strikes. Polnareff misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Guerrero drops down looking for a counter takedown but Polnareff sprawls and moves away. Polnareff drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Guerrero tries to buck Polnareff off but Polnareff is having none of it. Polnareff is looking to take a break and control but Guerrero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Guerrero is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Polnareff off and has taken his back!

And that's the end of the fight! Rene Polnareff comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Polnareff has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
