The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Benedetti counters with a head kick. That will keep Baker thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Baker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Baker with a lazy takedown attempt
and Benedetti counters with an inside leg kick.
Baker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Baker fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Benedetti looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Benedetti throws a head kick that misses.
Benedetti lands a head kick. Baker smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baker moves to clinch but Benedetti breaks away
and Benedetti counters with a one-two to the body.
Benedetti lands with a straight right. Baker didn't see that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Benedetti counters with a stiff right hand.

Benedetti throws a head kick but Baker moves out of range.
Benedetti cracks Baker with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Baker doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Benedetti cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Baker is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Baker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Benedetti lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Lorenzo Benedetti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Benedetti connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Baker's hands.
Oh Baker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Baker drops his hands momentarily. Benedetti doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Baker staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Baker doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Lorenzo Benedetti decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
