Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyler Banks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joseph Jantan! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jantan throws a jab but it's blocked by Banks. Jantan loads up on a big right hand but Banks slips the punch. Banks shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jantan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Banks throws a big right hand that misses. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jantan can do anything to dispel that myth. Jantan wants to sweep but no luck. Banks looking to sit in guard and control but Jantan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Banks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Banks has his foot on Jantan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jantan works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Banks looking for a sweep. Not yet Banks, not yet. Banks keeping full guard, as Jantan tries to pass. Banks has momentary wrist control but Jantan slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jantan tries to free his leg and advance position but Banks is retaining full guard. Banks wants to sweep here but Jantan controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Banks is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jantan is aware though and is defending well. Banks keeping moving, preventing Jantan from controlling successfully. Jantan is working Banks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Banks looking for a sweep. Not yet Banks, not yet. Jantan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Banks's head. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Banks is on top in guard.
Jantan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Banks's guard. Jantan lands a couple of elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jantan cracks Banks with a solid left hand.
Banks is rocked! Jantan postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Banks covers up, he's hurt! Jantan keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Jantan and the ref steps in to end the fight! Jantan can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joseph Jantan!
