Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Terence West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Starr!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Starr shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Starr was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
West is looking to get back to his feet here but Starr is keeping cool and he's managed to take West's back.

Starr tries to keep control of the position but West is staying busy.

West trying to control but not successfully.
Starr is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Starr's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Starr is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
West is really stuck here.
West rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Starr frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
West is trying to escape the mount.

Starr can't control as he wanted to and West manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Starr looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Starr prevents West from standing back up.

Starr is looking to take a break and control but West is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
West moves into full guard.
West pulls Starr in to control the position.
West trying to control the position.
West wants to stand but Starr is controlling the position.
Starr postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Starr stops West from standing up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Starr moves into the clinch.

Starr jumps guard and drags West to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
West has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
West lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Starr has his feet on West's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Starr instigates a clinch.
West tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Starr avoids it.
West tries to pull guard but Starr won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Starr cracks West with a nice body shot.
West is trying to pull guard but Starr turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Starr controlling the action here for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! West's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Starr trying to control the position but instead, West has worked for underhooks and has pushed Starr into the cage.

Starr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
West tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Starr defends well and West ends up having to push Starr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Starr shoots in and bounces West off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

West manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

West fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terence West. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Starr's efforts to push away.

West manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Starr preventing the sweep.
Starr trying to control but West is working from the bottom.

Starr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

West gets caught napping as Starr dives in and scores a takedown. West manages to retain guard.

West wants to stand up but Starr is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Starr is stalling in the full guard.
Starr is in close to West's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West wants to control but Starr passes easily into half guard.
West pushes Starr off looking to stand but Starr dives back in and keeps control.
John Starr has got the better of the ground game so far.

Starr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
West is trying to stand back up but Starr is controlling him
Starr seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
West tries to get to full guard but Starr has control of the leg.

Starr decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
West tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Starr swivels and escapes.

West gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
West can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Starr controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
West is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Starr tries to get to full guard but West has control of the leg.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Starr lands with a few short shots to the body.
West not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Starr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Starr closes the distance and clinches.
West tries to pull guard but Starr holds him up against the cage and eventually West drops back down to his feet.
Starr lands an elbow inside that West shrugs off.


It looks like Terence West has been cut.
Starr's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
West goes for a takedown attempt but Starr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Starr has taken the fight to the clinch.
West is trying to drag Starr to the mat but Starr just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terence West. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A bit of stalling here from Starr.
Starr crunches a lovely knee into West's ribcage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as West takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Starr has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics West uses from the top position.

Starr pushes West off and gets back to his feet.
Terence West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Starr moves into the clinch successfully.

West tries to pull guard but Starr forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
West jumps guard but Starr stands there with West around his waist. West gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Starr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Starr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
West changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Starr tries to avoid it but West manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Starr to the ground. Starr escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Starr, right into the meat.

Starr takes the fight into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

John Starr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Starr looking to score a takedown here. West is defending well but Starr drives through and ends up in West's guard.

West wriggles free and stands up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

West gets tackled into the cage by Starr. Starr maintains the clinch.

Starr ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Starr no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
West lands a couple of elbows.

West is sitting in close to Starr's body. Starr has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! West is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, West is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Starr.
