PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Webb (ranked 2977 p4p, 299 weight class) and Rick Siver (ranked 3435 p4p, 328 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Webb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Siver!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Siver scores with a takedown into Webb's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Siver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Webb is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Webb is looking for a kimura but Siver is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Webb to get the leverage.

Webb is nestled in close to Siver, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Siver felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Siver really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Webb. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Siver can do anything to dispel that myth.

Webb quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Webb but it's paid off an Siver is forced to tap! Nice work by Webb.

A relieved looking David Webb thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
