Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smoot Furley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Murdock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Matthew Murdock enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Smoot Furley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matthew Murdock! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murdock shoots in and drives through. Furley sprawls well. Furley scores with a shot to the body.
Murdock gets the takedown into side control. Murdock trying to control the position but Furley is working away. Murdock tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Murdock has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Furley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Murdock throwing shots but missing, from side control. The ground and pound from Murdock seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Murdock wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Furley, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murdock trying to control the action but Furley is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Murdock scores with a takedown into Furley's guard. Murdock loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murdock controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Furley avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Furley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Murdock looks gassed! Murdock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Furley swivels though and keeps the full guard. Murdock wants to control from the top but Furley keeps moving. Murdock stops Furley from standing up. Murdock wants to control from the top but Furley keeps moving. Furley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murdock on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Murdock keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Furley connects with a right hand. Murdock shakes it off. Murdock takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Furley throws a one two combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Furley fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Murdock looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Furley scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Furley connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Murdock momentarily.
Furley scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Furley lands a lovely overhand right. Furley cracks a nice hook into Murdock's ribs. Furley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Furley with a jab. Furley tests Murdock's chin there with a solid looking shot. Furley looks to land a combination. Murdock sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Murdock takes a body punch but keeps moving. Murdock fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Furley connects with a good right hand that stumbles Murdock. Murdock circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Furley moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Murdock darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Furley avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Murdock. Murdock is working for an americana but Furley has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Murdock was thinking about the submission. Murdock is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Smoot Furley dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Furley connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Left hook, right uppercut from Furley. Furley cracks Murdock with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Murdock takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Furley looks to throw the jab but Murdock is out of range. Murdock avoids the body shot from Furley.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Furley, as that shot connected.
A jab from Furley finds it's way through Murdock's defenses. Furley misses with a double jab.
Furley jabs at Murdock's body. Murdock moves out of range of the strikes. Murdock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Murdock controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murdock throws a strike but Furley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Murdock looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Murdock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Murdock has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Furley should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Murdock has tightened it up now! Furley should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
