Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kurtev is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Smith wants to control from the top but Kurtev keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kurtev trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.
Kurtev trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Kurtev tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kurtev scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith won't allow Kurtev to sweep him here.
Kurtev trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Smith wants to pass the guard but Kurtev is keeping the position.
Kurtev throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kurtev works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kurtev looking for a guillotine here but Smith defends easily.
Kurtev thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kurtev doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kurtev wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Smith pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kurtev is keeping the position for now.
Kurtev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
Kurtev throwing strikes but missing.

Smith throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Kurtev trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Kurtev might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smith haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Smith working for submissions but it's allowed Kurtev to get to half guard.
Kurtev working Smith over with strikes.
Smith keeps control of the position for the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kurtev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kurtev winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kurtev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
It looks like Kyle Smith has been cut.
Smith regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kurtev slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Smith tries to improve position but can't.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Kurtev connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Smith some visible discomfort.
Kurtev landing a few strikes.
Kurtev scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Smith is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Kurtev can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
