And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ru Shi Wu Cao!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wu Cao throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hill connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wu Cao throws a wild body kick that Hill sees coming a mile off.
Hill is looking for a counter combo.
Ru Shi Wu Cao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wu Cao misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hill will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A head kick by Wu Cao misses
and Hill counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wu Cao slips a jab and a cross from Hill.
Hill looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wu Cao misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wu Cao sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wu Cao misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Wu Cao takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wu Cao takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Hill fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Wu Cao on the side of the head.
Sloppy strikes from Wu Cao. Those never looked like landing.
Hill was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Hill works the jab nicely.
Wu Cao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hill is fending him off so far but Wu Cao persists. Nope, Hill circles away and we're back to standing.
Hill lands a body shot.
Wu Cao throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Hill counter with a right hand.
Wu Cao on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hill scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wu Cao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hill is fending him off so far but Wu Cao persists. Nope, Hill circles away and we're back to standing.
Hill lands a head shot.
Wu Cao throws a head kick that misses

and Hill counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Wu Cao!


Wu Cao is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hill trying to control from half guard but Wu Cao is working away.
Wu Cao is still in real trouble! Can Hill finish him?

Hill is working for a kimura but Wu Cao is defending it quite comfortably.

Hill wants to work for an arm triangle but Wu Cao is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wu Cao seems to have recovered his senses.
Wu Cao is looking to control Hill's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wu Cao avoid being mounted?

Hill is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wu Cao has managed to free his arm - good work.

Hill is looking for a kimura here.
Wu Cao looks like he's trying to stand up.

Hill is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hill is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Hill looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hill is working for a kimura but Wu Cao is defending it quite comfortably.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hill is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wu Cao sees it coming and defends easily.
Wu Cao tries to kick Hill off but Hill keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Hill is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hill wants to free his trapped foot but Wu Cao is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hill stops Wu Cao from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darrel Hill dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wu Cao looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Hill misses the target.

and Hill connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wu Cao throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hill counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Ru Shi Wu Cao is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wu Cao misses with a head kick.
Hill connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wu Cao's hands.
Wu Cao throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hill counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Ru Shi Wu Cao has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill sizes up Wu Cao with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wu Cao shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hill makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Darrel Hill has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ru Shi Wu Cao.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wu Cao fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hill manages to avoid it.

Hill scores with a crisp jab that stopped Wu Cao in his tracks.
Wu Cao throws a head kick that misses
and Hill counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wu Cao misses with a double jab
and Hill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hill fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Wu Cao out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Darrel Hill!
Darrel Hill retains his featherweight title!
After the fight, Darrel Hill was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
