Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Micheal Hines (ranked 7363 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelly Rush (ranked 4641 p4p, 415 weight class). Micheal Hines has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Micheal Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelly Rush!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hines misses with a body shot

and Rush moves into the clinch.
Rush jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hines walks away with a smile on his face. Rush gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Rush clinches.
Rush stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Rush jumps guard.

Hines got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rush has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hines has managed to get both his arms back between Rush's legs - danger averted.
Hines will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rush is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hines slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Rush.
Hines wants to stand up but Rush is controlling the position.
Hines thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rush's head.

Hines decides to stand up.

Hines gets a clinch.
Rush is looking to break free of the clinch but Hines has double underhooks.

Rush wants a takedown.
Rush misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Hines gets control of Rush's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hines will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hines is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rush looking to sit in guard and control but Hines gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rush is trying to control the position but Hines postures up.
Hines is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Rush not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rush is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rush holds on and takes a little breather.
Rush is wriggling around but Hines manages to pass to half guard.
Hines takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Rush tries to kick Hines off but Hines keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rush is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hines tries to clinch up but Rush circles away and keeps his distance.
Kelly Rush is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rush moves into range and clinches up with Hines.
Rush tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rush taking a breather.

Hines escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hines decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rush, up you get!

Rush darts in and clinches Hines up against the cage.

Kelly Rush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rush tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hines defends well and Rush ends up having to push Hines into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Micheal Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kelly Rush.
Rush wants to clinch up but Hines keeps it at a distance.

and Hines counters with a nice body shot.

Rush rushes Hines and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hines tries for a takedown but Rush manages to get underhooks.
Hines gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rush.

Hines gets control of Rush's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hines will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Rush tries to free his leg and advance position but Hines is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hines is on top in guard.

Hines lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Rush looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hines puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rush is breathing heavily.
Hines lands with a punch from half guard.
Rush is looking for a sweep. Hines is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rush looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hines is keen to just control but Rush is a slippery customer.
Hines perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hines is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rush defends it well.
Hines has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hines lands a nice short elbow.
Rush is looking to control Hines's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rush avoid being mounted?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rush tries to roll over but Hines keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Micheal Hines dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Rush wants to clinch
and Hines counters with a nice body shot.
Hines tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rush paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rush darts in looking for a takedown but Hines gets double underhooks and turns Rush into the cage.
Rush fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hines manages to avoid it.
Rush misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hines swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Hines gets a takedown into half guard.
Rush is looking to get back to is feet but Hines passes into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hines looks up at the clock and then as Rush takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hines smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Rush is trying to control Hines's posture but Hines avoids it.
Hines trying to control the position but Rush is working away.

Hines tries for a kimura but Rush is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Rush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rush might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hines haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hines is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rush can do to turn this around?
Hines works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Hines decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rush to his feet.
Rush circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hines closes the distance and pushes Rush back into the cage.
Rush can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Rush's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Rush tries to pull guard but Hines won't allow it.
Hines prevents Rush from breaking the clinch.
Hines fails to pull guard.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Hines escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hines is defended easily by Rush.
Rush is looking for the big counter here.
Hines tries to clinch up but Rush circles away and keeps his distance.
Rush changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rush takes the fight into the clinch.

Hines breaks the clinch.

Hines shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rush scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hines manages to mount him!
Hines prevents Rush from getting the reversal.
Kelly Rush has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Micheal Hines is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hines lands with some strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Micheal Hines showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hines, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
