Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Darley (ranked 2802 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Tidd (ranked 4223 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Tidd acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michael Darley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Tidd!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tidd fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Tidd shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Darley napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Darley manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Darley's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tidd connects with a nice short shot to Darley's temple.

Darley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tidd can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've been informed that Tidd has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Darley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tidd manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Darley has Tidd in his guard.

Tidd is in close to Darley's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Darley shoots in looking for a takedown but Tidd manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Darley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Tidd throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Darley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tidd is in Darley's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tidd can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tidd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tidd has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Darley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tidd's guard.

Darley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tidd swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Darley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tidd is on top in guard.

I would just about give that final round to Joe Tidd.
Well Tidd has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
