Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 1277 p4p, 155 weight class) and Skender Baruti (ranked 2430 p4p, 258 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Skender Baruti! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Ruas scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Ruas moves into full mount! Baruti won't be happy about that! Baruti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ruas fails to take his opponent's back. Ruas landing shots from mount. Ruas wants to control the pace but Baruti is squirming around nicely. Ruas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ruas fails to move to back control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baruti wants to hold on but Ruas pushes him away. Ruas fails to move to back control. Ruas looking to take Baruti's back but Baruti rolls and after a scramble, Baruti ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Baruti to escape a tricky position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruas lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Baruti keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. Baruti keeping full guard, as Ruas tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas passes Baruti's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ruas is looking to advance position but Baruti won't allow it. Baruti is controlling Ruas's position as best he can from this difficult position. Ruas wants to control but Baruti is keeping him busy. Ruas trying to mount his opponent but Baruti defends it. Ruas wants to take a breather but Baruti is having none of it. Ruas is looking to stall here but Baruti recovers full guard. Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baruti swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baruti looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruas advances to half guard. Ruas passes to full mount! Ruas wants to control the pace but Baruti is squirming around nicely. Ruas seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Baruti is holding on tight.
Ruas is working hard here to advance position. Ruas forces the positional change into back control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Baruti knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Baruti for a finish. Ruas tries to keep control of the position but Baruti is staying busy. Ruas working for the choke. I would not like to be Baruti right now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ruas working for the choke. Baruti is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Carlos Ruas dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
The fight moves into the clinch position. A short right from Baruti on the inside. Ruas lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ruas scores with a nice hook to the head. Ruas is leaning against Baruti and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Ruas goes for a takedown in the clinch but Baruti prevents it.
Ruas successfully pulls guard.
Ruas looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Carlos Ruas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ruas throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Baruti has passed into side control.
Ruas tries to buck Baruti off but Baruti is having none of it. Ruas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Baruti's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas tries to get to full guard but Baruti has control of the leg. Ruas trying to hold on to Baruti's head to control him but Baruti postures up.
Ruas is staying active underneath Baruti, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ruas trying to control from the bottom.
Ruas slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ruas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ruas trying to control the position.
Ruas looking for a sweep. Not yet Ruas, not yet. Ruas wants to hit a switch here but Baruti passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ruas there! Ruas regains half guard. Ruas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Baruti's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Baruti's back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Baruti rolls, trying to escape but Ruas keeps control of the position.
Baruti is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ruas gets his way!
Ruas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Baruti can do to turn this around? Will Ruas go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Ruas keeps control of the position as Baruti tries to break free.
Baruti trying to control the position but Ruas manages to sink in the hooks. Ruas really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Baruti. Ruas trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Ruas is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Baruti is defending well though. Ruas let's go of the attempt for now. Ruas looking for the choke but no joy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ruas sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Baruti taps out!
