Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Harper (ranked 1177 p4p, 169 weight class) and Joe Derrick (ranked 1335 p4p, 186 weight class). Joe Derrick will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harper throws a hook but Derrick avoids it easily.
Harper shoots and misses
and Derrick counters with a left to the body.
Harper throws an overhand right that lands on Derrick's shoulder, as Derrick tries to avoid the shot.
Derrick slips under a jab from Harper.
Harper fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Derrick gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Harper drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Harper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Derrick prevents the takedown attempt.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Derrick creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Derrick can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harper is trying to work for a kimura but Derrick is defending well.

Harper is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Derrick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harper.
