PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Braumann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Jee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jee is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Get The Funk Out Of My Face. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Karl Jee was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruno Braumann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karl Jee!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Braumann gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jee is trying to stand.
Braumann content to control rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Braumann is looking to take a break and control but Jee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Well, if Braumann is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Braumann has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Bruno Braumann just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Jee throws a head kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Braumann misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Karl Jee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jee misses with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Jee.
Jee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Braumann circles away quickly and effectively.
Jee throws a head kick but Braumann moves out of range.
Jee throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jee tries a head kick but it misses.
Braumann shoots in but Jee avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jee connects with a high kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jee thows a body shot but no joy.
Jee throws a sloppy head kick and Braumann moves out of range easily.
Braumann looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Braumann. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Braumann moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Jee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Braumann is breathing heavily.
Braumann is working hard here to advance position.

Braumann is looking for a triangle but Jee pushes his legs off easily.
Jee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick misses from Jee.
Good leg kick by Jee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Jee dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Braumann takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Braumann stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jee.
Braumann avoids a punch combination nicely.
A left and a right from Jee both land. Nice combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jee lands a right hook to the body.
Some wild striking there from Jee.
Jee lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Braumann doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Jee misses with a head kick.
Braumann avoids the head kick by Jee.
Jee lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Jee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jee misses with a head kick.

Jee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Braumann keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jee wants to control the pace but Braumann is squirming around nicely.
Braumann is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Braumann sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Braumann tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karl Jee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Braumann will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Braumann throws a looping overhand right but Jee ducks down to avoid it.
Nice shot lands for Jee.
Braumann ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Braumann closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jee wants to get back to full guard.
Braumann stops Jee from getting back to his feet.
Braumann is looking to take a break and control but Jee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jee is holding on to half guard well.
Jee gets back to full guard.
Jee has Braumann pulled in close to control his posture.
Braumann wants to control from the top but Jee keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Braumann tries to free his leg and advance position but Jee is retaining full guard.

Jee is looking to stand up but Braumann isn't so interested in that idea.

Braumann controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Braumann shoots in for a double leg but Jee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jee throws a series of strikes that have Braumann backpedaling.
Jee throws a combination. Braumann tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Jee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Braumann on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jee throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jee ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Jee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Braumann's waist but Braumann gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jee off to one side.
Jee thumps Braumann with a low kick.
Jee throws a right and a left that both miss.
Braumann tries to clinch
enabling Jee to counter with a crisp jab.
Karl Jee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jee scores with a leg kick.
Braumann fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Braumann. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jee feints and as Braumann raises his hands in defense, Jee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bruno Braumann has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Braumann throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Karl Jee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
