Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takahashi Sinjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Willingham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sinjo tries to bum rush Willingham with a series of wild strikes but Willingham uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sinjo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Willingham is fending him off so far but Sinjo persists. Nope, Willingham circles away and we're back to standing. Willingham has managed to clinch.
Willingham makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Willingham prevents a takedown attempt there.
Sinjo wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Willingham has him pressed against the cage. Willingham leaning his opponent against the cage. Willingham is pressed up against the cage. Sinjo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Willingham down to the mat. Willingham avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takahashi Sinjo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Willingham rushes Sinjo and presses him up against the cage. Willingham works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Sinjo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Sinjo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Willingham is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sinjo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Willingham's back instead. Sinjo controlling well, preventing Willingham from escaping the position.
Willingham is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Willingham rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Willingham is staying active underneath Sinjo, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sinjo is looking for a kimura but Willingham is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sinjo to get the leverage. Willingham is doing well to control the position and prevent Sinjo from advancing to side control. Willingham wants to control but Sinjo is keeping busy and won't allow it. Willingham keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Sinjo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Willingham is looking to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sinjo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sinjo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Sinjo darts in trying to clinch and Willingham counters with a single leg into guard. Sinjo didn't expect that. Sinjo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Willingham controls the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willingham trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sinjo's guard. Willingham scoring with punches to the head and body. Willingham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sinjo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Willingham loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Willingham wants to control from the top but Sinjo keeps moving. Willingham controls from within his opponent's guard. Sinjo keeping moving, preventing Willingham from controlling successfully. Sinjo looking for a guillotine here but Willingham defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Willingham is looking to stand up but Sinjo won't let him. Sinjo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Willingham doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sinjo is tightening it up a little... Willingham has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Willingham reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Willingham taps out! nice BJJ there by Sinjo!
