Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jaska Lahti (ranked 4913 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nye Obney (ranked 3502 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jaska Lahti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nye Obney! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lahti throws a looping overhand right but Obney ducks down to avoid it. Obney keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lahti throws a hook but Obney avoids it easily. Obney throws a big shot that misses. Obney jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lahti's corner calls for a 1-2. Lahti obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Obney throws a big shot that misses. Obney works the jab nicely. Obney cracks Lahti with an open hand slap. Obney lands with a shot to the body. Obney throws a hook but Lahti avoids it easily. Obney pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A big right from Lahti misses. Lahti lands the left hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Obney missing with a left hand there. Lahti was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Obney ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Obney misses the jab. A punch lands to the side of Lahti 's head but he takes it in his stride. Obney waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lahti. Obney avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Obney looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Obney throws a jab when Lahti was well out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Obney does it's job there. Obney moves out of range of the strikes. Obney might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Obney displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lahti throws out the jab. Lahti looks to throw the jab but Obney is out of range. Lahti throws the left hand but Obney avoids the punch easily. Lahti tries to keep at a distance but Obney has taken the fight into the clinch. Obney lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lahti backwards. Lahti wants to break free but Obney has control.
Lahti has had enough of the clinch but Obney keeps him there for the moment. Obney pulls guard effortlessly. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Obney is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Obney controls from within his opponent's guard. Obney throwing strikes but missing. Lahti is trying to keep Obney in close.
Obney advances to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Obney with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lahti avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Obney. Obney has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Obney controlling the pace. Obney thows a huge punch but Lahti dodges it nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Obney throwing shots but Lahti is blocking nicely. Obney sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lahti defending well though. Lahti keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Obney perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Obney missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Obney seems to be working for a kimura but Lahti defends the submission attempt. Lahti blocking the ground and pound attempt from Obney.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lahti is trying to stand back up but Obney is controlling him

Obney seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lahti is looking for a sweep. Obney is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Obney throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Obney moves nicely into side control. Obney looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Lahti is avoiding damage well.
Obney is chipping away with strikes.
Obney working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Lahti is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Obney asserts his dominance and retains side control. Lahti is being controlled here. Let's hope that Obney has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Obney throws an elbow but Lahti slips to the side and avoids it well. The referee asks Obney politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Obney prefers to stall for the moment though. Lahti avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Obney. Obney happy to just control the position for now. Obney tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Obney takes a little break here. Lahti wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Obney working away. Lahti is working to avoid the ground and pound but Obney connects with a decent elbow. Obney tries to score with some ground and pound. Lahti controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Obney is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lahti's shoulder. That is not cool. Lahti knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Obney on the ground. Lahti tries to escape but Obney is in control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nye Obney dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Obney throws the left hand but Lahti avoids the punch easily. Obney has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Obney scores with a crisp jab that stopped Lahti in his tracks. Lahti ducks right into an uppercut from Obney. Obney throws a hook to the side of Lahti's head but Lahti sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Obney lands with a right hand. Lahti defending well as Obney loads up on a big left hand. Lahti throws a body shot but no joy. Obney is looking to clinch but Lahti is avoiding it.
Obney throws a lazy uppercut
and Lahti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Lahti slips a jab from Obney. Obney fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lahti is rocked! Obney closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Lahti! Obney dives in looking to finish! Lahti is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nye Obney! After the fight, Nye Obney was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
